Hoof Trims

There is no one way to trim a horse. I take a holistic approach when trimming, meaning I take into considerations the horse’s diet, health, & lifestyle to build them a hoof that will serve them best and keep them comfortable.

Evaluating the Horse for the Trim
At our first appointment, I will evaluate the horse and trim their feet to ensure their comfort. Every little thing makes a difference in the trim. I will identify variables such as:
- Conformation (ex. pigeon-toes)
- Landings (heel first, flat, toe-first)
- Sole depth (ex. thin soles or thick soles)
- Concavity
- Footing of where the horse lives/is worked
- Signs of metabolic disturbances such as laminitis or bruising
- Cracks in the hoof wall
- Flaring & Distortions
- Palmar & Plantar angles
- Digital cushion size
- Thrush and WLD (white line disease)
- Frog size
